This line of garden truffles is for planting, not for eating. Handcrafted bon bon balls of clay, organic compost and seed wrapped in a lovely presentation package. They are a perfect gift for novice and expert gardener alike.
Seed balls are a centuries-old planting technique. The compost provides nutrients to the seeds and the clay holds it together and protects against insects. to toss into the garden or indoor container. Find a sunny spot, add water and watch them grow!
There are eight garden truffles in this handcrafted herbal tea selection - two each of Borage, Chamomile, Lemon Balm and Stinging Nettle.
- Red Clay Square - Lemon Balm/Melissa officinalis. Fresh leaves for teas and also for salads.
- Red Clay Blossom - Chamomile 'Bodegold'/Matricaria recutita. German chamomile for a stronger flavor. Daisy-like flowers in tea induce a soothing sleepiness.
- Red Clay Truffle - Borage/Borago officinalis. Leaves for lovely cucumber flavoured teas. Blossoms are mostly an amazing blue (with possibly some pink) and can be thrown into salads and desserts.
- White Clay Truffle - Stinging Nettle/ Urtica diotica. Leaves for tea. Rich in iron and vitamin C. Once dried or cooked the leaves and stem lose their stinging properties and the tea is delightful and subtle, but when fresh please handle with gloves.
